Nanoclean is an Indian startup that manufactures air filtration devices using a new nanofiber technology that removes airborne pollutants and hazardous particles. The filters are made from a special kind of nanofiber that can capture particles as tiny as 0.3 microns. These filters may be utilized differently, including in masks, nasal filters, and air purifiers.

Nasofilters, their main product, are wearable respiratory nasal filters that stick to the nostrils and prevent dangerous air pollutants from entering. It may be used for up to 12 hours & can be disposed of later. Unlike traditional face masks, these filters are not visible on the face, making them perfect for usage in public places where masks may not be authorized.

Its second product, ‘Nasofilters Pollution Net,’ helps minimize indoor air pollution in houses and other structures. The outer layer of the net is made of a hydrophobic mesh that repels water and makes it resistant to water.

Recently, they launched Cigibud, which helps people quit smoking. Cigibud is the first bio-safe cigarette filter in the world. Using it removes a substantial amount of tar and nicotine from cigarettes without altering their flavor or smoking experience. The nanofibers in Cigibud enhance the smoke’s smoothness and reduce its toxicity.

Their products are available at medical stores, their own website & Amazon.

Founders & their story

Prateek Sharma

Prateek got the idea for the product after seeing a need in his own house. His mother had asthma, so he spent his childhood trying to find the best ways to help her deal with pollution. The other things available at the time were either excessively big and tended to hide her face, as with the face masks, or painful, like the nose buds that had to be placed into her nostrils.

That is when he decided to create something that does not require being placed inside the nose. And he, along with his Co-founders Tushar Vyas and Jatin Kewlani, created nanofibers by reducing the thread diameter of a normal fabric by 100 times to filter out pollutants. Later, they developed Nasofilters using nanotechnology to ensure minimal pressure drop while breathing.

About the company:

The firm is a nanotechnology startup launched in 2017 that has created the world’s smallest wearable air cleaner, the Nasofilter. Their objective is to offer an inexpensive solution for air pollution.

What makes them special is that their nanofiber air filtration technology is the first of its kind for removing air contaminants. It performs mechanical filtration, unlike any other filter using electrostatic technology. They have been awarded patents for products and technologies.

During COVID, they also created & sold more than 5 lakh Nano Face Masks worldwide as they sensed the impending need for masks. Over 2 lakh people have reported improved breathing quality as a result of using their filters.

Revenue:

Their lifetime sales are Rs. 15 crores.

In FY 19-20, their revenue was Rs. 7.6 crores, which decreased to Rs. 4.7 crores in FY 20-21 and it again declined to Rs. 1.1 crores in FY 21-22.

The average monthly sales of Nasofilters are Rs. 5 lakhs, of which 25% are B2C sales from Amazon & remaining 75% are B2B sales.
