Mornings in South India are filled with the aroma of coffee,people drink an entire pitcher of coffee from morning till breakfast. The same process is repeated again in afternoon with a round of murukku
However, this traditional flavour of south Indian coffee though widely available in south India is not available anywhere else in other parts of India.
This traditional decoction (percolation of warm water over coffee making a strong brew of coffee) is now available in bottled form. A 220 ml decoction can help make 10-12 cups of coffee.
Also available are wide arrays of murukku to go along with the coffee.
Founders & their story
The founders of VS Mani & co are Yashas Alure (Head of Growth), GD Prasad (CEO)& Rahul Bajaj (Operations). All 3 of them met at work at Dentsu webchutney. While working there for multiple brands, they felt a desire to work and build their own brand. They missed Authentic filter coffee in India and believed that there is a market as their Diaspora is spread globally
Founders have pursued following education:
- Master in Marketing from London
- Masters in advertising and Marketing from Coventry University
- Economics & Finance from Australian National University
About the company:
Company’s products are available on their website, marketplaces, quick commerce, and supermarkets. They sell Filter Coffee and snacks such as banana chips, peanut chikki and many more.
They also make filter coffee extract by decoction. The sharks liked their snacks and coffee very much. Anupam has already invested in the company.
Their price for a 225ml bottle is 145 rupees, which can make 10 cups per bottle.
Revenue:
They made 15 lakhs in FY 20-21, 1.2 crores in FY 21-22 and in FY 21-22 they made 2 crores. Their target for this year is 7.5 crores. They are burning roughly 20-25 lakhs per month and monthly sales is around 55-70 lakhs. Expenses are 85 lakhs :25 lakhs in product cost, 33lakhs in marketing, 5 lakhs in salaries, 7.5 lakhs in shipping and the rest are admin expense (14.5 lakhs).
